Ms. Linda Painan is a globally recognized entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cross-civilizational connector. Born in Indonesia, a citizen of Singapore, she has called Shanghai home for over 30 years— uniquely embodying the convergence of Southeast Asia, China, and the wider world.
GLOBAL ECONOMIC LEADERSHIP
As Founder and Chairperson of the Global Economic Network (GEN), developed in close partnership with the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Shanghai Pudong Enterprise Going Global Service Center, Linda leads a flagship platform dedicated to supporting Chinese enterprises in global expansion and building sustainable international trade ecosystems. Under GEN’s architecture, Linda convenes a Global Advisory Board of 20 distinguished leaders spanning five continents — from North America and Europe to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Oceania — united by the mission of “Global Vision, Local Insight.” GEN further operates a dedicated Family Office Advisory (GEN家办荟), a high-calibre platform connecting cross-border capital markets, strategic investment, and family wealth management across Asia and beyond.
In 2025, she represented GEN at the Belt & Road Global Business Summit in Jakarta, co-convening governments, the UN system, and business leaders to launch sustainable infrastructure action plans. In September 2025, she led the organization of the UN 80th Anniversary Forum in Shanghai, affirming her standing at the highest intersection of commerce and global diplomacy.

IMPACT PHILANTHROPY

Uniting McDonald’s, UOB, Dow… and enterprises from Singapore, the USA, France, and Germany, the project integrates a Silent Barista project (staffed by hearing-impaired individuals), an Art Therapy Zone, and a Children’s Wellness Space. Its defining innovation: corporate operating revenues within the space are channeled back into the Foundation — creating a genuine self-sustaining philanthropic cycle.
Since 2012, Linda has personally funded the full tuition of 100+ children in poverty-stricken Sichuan; donated RMB 1M+ in supplies and 200,000 masks during COVID-19; and raised over RMB 10 million for nearly 10 Shanghai-based charities.
